Case for Rainwater Recovery to replace High pressure Piston Pump for Water Transfer

Was at a site where two motor driven positive displacement pumps have been installed to take water from a stream at bottom of hill and pump @ 200m up hill to supply a header tank in a building for staff immediately below BBC mast.

Recently found that one of the motors was running slow and after changing capacitors (which was ineffectual) and rewinding and re installing motor the pump is still unable to transfer water up this height, usually seals and valve blockages cause similar problems but after further investigation – due to the model and design of this particular pump the cylinders wear and water simply leaks past piston.

We will be replacing pump but in the long term believe that a rainwater recovery system would be best all round solution, with treatment system to allow drinking water quality.
