CERES, Calif. — Firefighters in Calif. rescued a man from a septic tank he jumped into to hide from sheriff’s deputies Tuesday.
Deputies were initially called to a report of a man obstructing traffic in Stanislaus County at 8 a.m, according to Fox40.
When he spotted police, he ran toward the back of a motel. Deputies initially couldn’t see the man, but then heard a noise from a nearby septic tank.
They discovered the man was stuck, and firefighters were called to help free him, the report said.
After deputies conducted a background check, they released the man without charging him.
When asked why he ran, he said it’s what he’d seen “people do on TV.”
